Short Biography
Arvydas Kazdailis was born in 1939 in Lithuania, Baisogala, Radviliskis area. Both of
his parents were teachers. In 1940 Arvydas father was arrested by the soviets. In 1945
he was arrested second time and as a political prisoner was imprisoned in the Russian
North Sevpeclag. In 1962 Arvydas graduated from Vilnius Art Institute and started
creating book art and graphic art. In 1990 the series of 54 etchings ”The Mould of ancient Lithuanians, highlanders and Samogitians” have been awarded with the Grand Prize of amber in Baltic Book Art Triennial and with the A. D. Goncarovas prize in USSR Books Competition. Since 1987 he is creating heraldry art of Lithuania and has organized over 20 personal exhibitions. In 2002 Arvydas was nominated with
Lithuanian National Prize for series of 65 graphic sheets ”Old Prussia” as well as for
contribution to Lithuania’s heraldry.
