Descrizione Opera / Biografia
The creation of an OBJET TROUVE.
This is an attempt to try to understand that everything that can be found already exists.
Creating something new is impossible, finding something new on the contrary is, and this makes the reformation of whatever exists possible.
Kandinsky, Picasso, Bach, Mozart, Einstein, Higgs and others discovered what already existed… They only created the circumstances wherein the new form could emanate. Form changes, from the biggest to the smallest, but the content stays the same, because there only is what is.
Scholars, artists and others create circumstances to discover more through their own insights about the existing reality. They find out what is there.
Everything is found (see the periodic table of Mendeleev, elements of art included), nothing new is invented.
A toddler walks in a city street. The child is fascinated by whatever is on the ground and starts picking up small, recognisable and less familiar objects and then looks, touches and assimilates them. This carefree child finds. Nothing more.
Walking through the streets, the wind blows a plastic sack into the air. At a certain point, due to an unexplainable thermic it hangs motionless for three or four seconds. This is not a piece of litter any more. The combined circumstances of the weather and environment temporarily made a special stiff and motionless sculpture out of an ordinary shopping bag. Coincidence?
It is possible for an individual to create the same circumstances with found objects, although it is not the same as letting coincidence decide if or not something will be found. When someone consciously causes and uses these circumstances we call it “the creation of one’self objet trouvé”
With paint, newspaper, fruit crates and pictures Patricia Creyns tries to evoke these sorts of coincidences through which new sights and insights can appear.
