Artwork description / Biography
Patricia van de Camp works since 2010 as an autonomous photographer. She translates her dreams and fantasies into her photographic work. Nature and the lost harmony between human beings and animals play an important role. Sometimes she explores an elaborated idea, at other times she proceeds intuitively and finds inspiration in her surroundings. Her images refer in a playful way to such themes as intimacy, vulnerability and death without being harsh or confrontational. The objects in her work function symbolically, serving as her alter ego and protecting her. The dream images radiate innocence, tranquility and beauty, but are often also confusing and alienating. Something pinches in these idealized images.Patricia van de Camp is focusing at the making of series, without being narrative. Each image speaks for itself; together the pictures show different aspects of a theme. Pillow Talk can be any variety of things. It can be before or after being intimate, or without that at all. The point of pillow talk, though, is for two people to enjoy each other’s presence through conversation, in a somewhat spontaneous way, but in a way that will let both parties go to bed with clear heads. After pillow talk, my heart rate dropped by half.
