At the moment, there is no other option but to make what I make. These days I’m inspired by the human heart and the journey between vulnerability and trust.
I hope to carry on with this journey and see where it takes me within my heart.

The cloth is damask. It represents tradition to me. The dinner table always had a damask tablecloth on it. Every meal of the day was laid on it. We discussed and digested food, but also the what was going on that day in our lives, my family and me. This was the foundation my mother laid. With her
sense of occasion. There is someone missing from that table. My brother is gone.
My mother kept the copper pans and implements well-polished. The green is the colour of coper when it gets wet. A natural process. Copper goes back to earth in the end no matter what you do. The blue is the colour of motherhood, of mother, back to earth. The source of life.
In my work and life I don’t lay things out. It just happens. It is instinctive.
The process of painting this showed me how far away I am from this the damask tablecloth. I enjoy the memory but it’s not part of my life right now.
