Taos, New Mexico artist Charlotte Shroyer, Ph.D. discovered painting by accident in an Ohio State University education class. It was not until she moved to Taos that she began a professional art career. Inspired by world cultures and literature of the world, her paintings full of passion, line, and color transcend individual and cultural boundaries. Shroyer has received numerous national and international awards for her abstract and contemporary figurative oils and monotypes: American Juried Art Salon 2015 Emerging Contemporary Artist; Award for recognition of Artistic Value, Bologna, Italy; 2nd place, graphics, International Juried Competition, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; First Place, 2011 Top Ten International Women in the Arts, Rome, Italy; 2016 Honorary Diploma, Berliner Art Prize, Berlin, Germany; 1st Place, Subjective exhibit, WCA, New York City; 1st Place, Mixed Media, Art Association of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
