Hirokazu Fukawa was born in Tokyo, Japan, and cuurrently resides and works in US. Fukawa is a conceptual artist who works with various media, such as installation, sculpture, video, photos, and drawing. Fukawa’s works often develop from personal matters, but community or social concerns are bridged in the process. His works have been exhibited nationally and internationally in galleries including: Foundry for Art and Design, Form + Content Gallery, John F. Kennedy Center, Real Art Ways, Asian American Art Center, Galley Coco, ARC Gallery, Trakt Project Raum, Musée d’art et d’histoire. He also has exhibited in university galleries and museums: University of Maryland, Bowling Green State University, Kutztown University, Wells College, University of La Verne in California, the UC Art Museum in Boulder, DeVos Art Museum at Northern Michigan University, Roger Williams University, University of Massachusetts Amherst, St. Louis Community College, Indiana State University Terre Haute, Carnegie Mellon University, and University of California Santa Barbara. Fukawa has received grants and fellowships from New Boston Fund Individual Artist Fellowship, The Edward C. & Ann T. Roberts Foundation, Artist Fellowship Grant CCCT, Artist’s Resource Trust, Mid-America Arts Alliance/National Endowment for Arts Fellowship, and The New Form Regional Grant Program.
