Descrizione Opera / Biografia

Artwork discription:
I like to paint people in an emotional intimate moment, unguarded as people are at their most vulnerable. Capturing this beauty is what attracts me grately. A collage of vintage book pages bonded together into one sheet on a mixed media paper. The layers and varying tones of this work convey emotion and offer depth and a 3-dimensional effect that brings this piece to life.
Biography:
”I see the canvas as a mirror, a diary written in colors” Martina’s works are ink drawings on sheets of vintage book pages, vintage Chinese newspaper or sheet music, a medium she prefers due to the aged character of old paper from all over the world. She creates work which asks the viewer to take time, sit quietly and her intention is for her works to maybe evoke a feeling of relaxation or happiness. Her major themes are life, emotions, feelings, relationships, moments and events that impact her inspiration. Her paintings are collected throughout the World, and can be found in many public, corporate and private collections. Martina Niederhauser is a full time artist, had her studio 3 years in Shanghai and 3 years in Chicago and is now based in Sarnen, Switzerland with her husband and her daughter.
