Can we ever find the lost Paradise? Or is it just kitschy and sweet dream? I’m searching in most of my images for losing relation between human beings and nature, for my own roots, for the reason why I’m here. That’s why I need to touch the soil, air, water or fire by hand or by light and by colors which help me to express better my emotions. And that’s why the most of my images are real and not manipulated in postproduction.
Jan Pohribný (born 1961 in Prague) studied at FAMU (1981-86) and he has been working as an independent visual artist since 1986. He is mostly involved in advertisement and illustration art photography in parallel to his free performance. He is a member of the Association of Professional Photographers and the Prague House of Photography (FotoForum Prague today). He was a pedagogue at the Institute of Creative Photography at Silesian University in Opava from 1998 to 2013. He is a leader of a number of workshops both at home and abroad (he has regularly been lecturing in Finland and Norway for last ten years).
He had more than 50 solo exhibitions both at home and abroad and participated in more than a hundred of group exhibitions. His photos are represented in significant collections in USA, France, Switzerland, China, and the Czech Republic.
He lives in Czech Republic and in Liguria, Italy
