Peter Gaber studied painting on the Academy of fine arts and design in Ljubljana, Slovenia. In 2009 he became Master of fine arts, specialized in gestural painting. He has since explored the expressive possibilities of brush strokes and through a minimal phase discovered a new kind of landscape.
In 2015 he started exploring various themes by combining figurative drawings with minimal abstraction. He painted himself and his closest friends in contrast to vertical all-over stripes to tell the story of the contemporary subject, torn between his internal nature and the external world.
He projects his intimate feelings, fears and observations into familiar natural scenes. Interaction between these elements creates atmospheric landscapes, hosting dramatic moments that express how he interprets global trends through his personal stories.
