Premio Combat Prize

Title of the Project: Save from Being Forgotten, addresses the desire to retain the passing time and events, to protect our memories, and most importantly the emotions generated by these memories. This art project consists of three parts - the media used here. The soft sculpture of the coat (288 cm in length), sown by the artist’s hand, is supported by the resin. Inside the coat are pictures presenting important and often familial events. This work symbolizes protection from being forgotten. Second piece of art is the installation of photographs connected to each other, hanging in the in the form of patchworks, some with empty spaces representing absence of some persons, occurrences, or weakened relations with the close ones. Randomness of photo placements symbolizes unpredictability of events that form our mental, material, emotional and spiritual world. All photographs represent such elements like time, people and happenings. All pictures come from the family collection of XX century. The third medium is a video played on a big screen. This part can carry an universal truth through which anyone can identify with.
Magdalena Piwko-Chudzik attended the Academy of Fine Arts (AFA) in Warsaw, Poland, and she graduated with high honors in 2018, receiving her master’s degree in graphic design. She studied the graphic design under professor Piotr Smolnicki, and painting under professor Henry’s Gostynski. She is a scholarship recipient of the AFA Dean in 2015-2018. Ms. Piwko-Chudzik is presently enrolled in the post-master Art Education program. The artist presented her art works at 13 individual and 30 group exhibits. She uses various types of media, such as sculpture, graphics, painting, photography, and installations. Through the art, she expresses herself, her emotions, life events, and interactions with the external world. Each or her artworks tells a powerful story, and includes her autobiographical accents.
