DESCRIPTION
This work questions about the future of man in his nature, his mind , his natural body and future anatomy, through the gestural analogies and borders of an artist, a dressmaker and a surgeon, who all incise, cut, assemble, add, repair, suture, sew with similar tools and materials.
Homo algorithmus speak of artificial intelligence, temporal and physical spaces, passages and borders, where, between rupture and continuity, the normalization of hybridizations is played out.
It evokes the day of yesterday, the one of today and that of tomorrow and the end of a world .
It is a reflection on the question of the very notion of identity, as it is lived in Occident since Aristotle. What will be the humanity of tomorrow, this future human being increased H +, where is the limit?
BIOGRAPHY
Brigitte AMARGER (b.1954, France) is a Paris-based visual and textile artist, post graduated from Applied Arts High schools and Arts University of Paris, France. (1978).
She is a Paris-based visual and textile artist who creates mural or sculptural achievements, interior and in situ installations that explore themes of nature, light, memory and human being.
Her practice includes textile and numerical techniques, laser cutting and engraving, photography, painting, mold sculpture and works predominantly with the mediums of medical imagery, handmade paper, hot glue, textile, luminescent and reflective materials.
She is best known for large-scale X Rays installations and discarded materials artworks.
The diversion of materials, and more particularly of the support of medical imagery for artistic purposes and memory ends, is essential for her. Sensitive to ecological issues, she finds in her artistic practice a double direction, highly symbolic: create artworks by recycling discarded materials.
Since 1978, AMARGER’s work has been exhibited internationally in solo and notable group exhibitions in contemporary art spaces and museums.
Artist’s work has been included in private and public collections worldwide, featured in various publications and had numerous distinctions.
