George Tkabladze received BFA and MFA in sculpture from Tbilisi Academy of Art (Tbilisi, Georgia). In 2001, he moved to the USA after receiving two consecutive artist’ residency grants, at Studio Midwest (Galesburg, IL) and Anderson Center (Red Wing, MN) Subsequently, he has continued his career as an artist and educator in the metro DC area. His most notable exhibitions include: Artists at Work – Smithsonian Museum (Washington DC 2019-20); 3rd International Biennial of Art - European Museum of Modern Art (Barcelona, Spain 2019); The 11th Annual Janet & Walter Sondheim Artscape Prize semifinalists’ exhibition (MICA- Baltimore, MD 2016); Artists for the Jubilee, Basilica of Saint Paul, (Vatican/Rome, Italy 2015) Triennale Di Roma, (Rome, Italy 2014).
He has received numerous awards: Some such awards include: International Prize Velazquez - European Museum of Modern Art - (Barcelona, Spain 2019), Milan International Art Award (2017), International Prize Michelangelo (2015), International Art Award Raffaello Sanzio (2014), Best Virginia Artists – sculpture category (2005), as well as being awarded a title of Ambassador of Culture of the World (2014).
His work has been printed in numerous publications. He teaches sculpture at The Smithsonian Museum (Washington DC) and at The Art League School in (Alexandria, VA).
