Descrizione Opera / Biografia
Tamara Pavlovic is a Serbian born, Sydney based multidisciplinary artist. Her work often depicts inner minds, memories and female identity. The dreamlike image is at the same time classic and timeless, and it guides the viewers to the edges of the imagination and encourages them to dive into it. The dreamscape explores the unconscious – something between fantasy and reality. This world has come to life after spending time in the isolated studio in 2020, when everything stopped for some time and mother nature started to recover from humans. The layered female forms are portrayed with watercolors and collage, in all their glory and beauty and they depict the collective nature of waking up to the fact that our destroying ways of lives are not acceptable anymore. On the personal level, Pavlovic was going through deep introspection and realization that the old patterns of thinking were not working for her.
Completing the Master of Art at UNSW Art & Design, Sydney in 2019, Tamara has won Works on Paper Prize 2020, Blackstone Gallery Newcastle and been a finalist of many Art Awards, Fisher’s Ghost, Lethbridge 20000 Small Works Art Prize, Blacktown Art Prize and Hunter’s Hill Art Award amongst others. Pavlovic has exhibited in many group exhibitions and is preparing for her solo exhibition in July 2021.
