Tamara Pavlovic is a Serbian born, Sydney based multidisciplinary artist. Her work often depicts inner minds, memories and female identity. In the video performance ’Dream/San’ through language and a ritual act Pavlovic mourns and talks to her ancestors and hopes to connect again. Spiritual connection with one’s ancestors is a key element of Pavlovic’s culture, especially having a strong bond with her grandmother who was the important influence in her upbringing, a tough and an independent woman with a kind and sensitive soul in love with poetry. Whilst performing a ritual act, Pavlovic recites the poem ’Dream/San’, that is both personal and intimate, written for her by her grandmother after the departure from Europe to Australia many years ago.
