philosophical, conceptual description
The overall compositions lulls you into playful mode, perhaps remembering days on the beach observing or being the child at play. An idilic scene, the beach, and toes in the water, sun and play.
The dynamic diagonals start to alert you too a drama unfolding. The diagonals, on inspection suggest travel - with their rubber tyre, the movement of people - they are part of a transporter vehicle.
You notice the child is reaching out towards a group of miniaturised people! At her toes in the water are more people, are they drowning? will the colossus child reaching towards them and who represents the state/multi-nationals/global organisations, help or squash them. A fragile moment, loaded with responsibility and possibility, the light intense, the drama hight, the subtle use of my paint and delicacy of my brush strokes emphasises this critical moment in time.
Tedi Lena.
