STARE SCOMODI PER ESSERE
The works is composed by: a sculptural seat, footrests and handrests. The seat is made of concrete and recycled stones that has the purpose to remind that is important being phisically uncomfortable sometimes, because this generates attention and mental ferment as a consequence. The seat has also the aim of remembering that is fundamental to let the world leave his sign on us because we are the fossil body, what is marked by external influences those makes a life. Footrests and handrests that are usually used to make feet and hands comfortable, but in the artist’s work they become discomfort devices. In Lucrezia’s practice being uncomfortable and provoking the physical discomfort through these objects are just some of the ways she found out to avoid the excessive comfort the society put us in. Being lulled too much is misleading and tends to crush attention and feelings.
These devices are useful to remind people that being uncomfortable is the only certainty we have in order to have a future on this planet.
BIO
Lucrezia Costa is an emerging artist but first of all she is an uncomfortable crack. She started to be a crack when she decided to enter inside the “selva oscura” that Dante faces at the beginning of his journey in the Divina Commedia. The Bachelor degree in Photography, the Master degree in Visual Arts and Critical Studies and the pandemic emergency accelerated the process, like an earthquake that generates fractures in a solid wall. She is exploring the depth and all the crossroads generated inside a rupture that is constantly changing and deepening through nature and the earth element. With her practice she tries to bring on the surface pieces of what she found in the abyss with the aim and hope of creating shock waves.
