The reason for the importance of Europe in Greek mythology lies in its abduction, being probably one of the most famous myths in which Zeus participated, and without a doubt one of his most famous love affairs.

Europa was the daughter of King Agenor, who ruled in Phenicia. Enchanted by her beauty, Zeus plans to steal her, transforms into a beautiful bull, and joins the king’s flocks.
While Europe, together with her companions, was picking flowers, she noticed the beauty of the bull she was riding.
Zeus kidnaps her, taking her to the island of Crete. He seduces her on the island (not hiding that he has a wife), so she becomes his mistress.
Finding out the truth, Europe, deceived, throws herself off a cliff into the sea, but Aphrodite saves her. The earth on which Zeus was brought will be named after her.
