Artwork description / Biography
Otherness explores the individual’s adaptation to the Western mass-produced construction system and the exploitation of natural resources. A wood studs installation edification resembling a house questions the meaning of migration and, at the same time, addresses it by relating it as an intrinsic characteristic of the human.
Relocation from country to country, city to city, or crossing borders is not the only consideration in this experience, but the individual’s adaptation to another space from which their identity is disrupted. Rest and feeling safe while the process is ongoing is not possible.
Confronting the perspective of otherness is a concept used to objectify the other in front of the locals. This experience demands a corporeal response from the one who explores by walking the space, and through sensory perception, knowledge, and empathy with the other are acquired.
