Artwork description / Biography

The artwork uses the game of bowling as a metaphor for social expectations and anxieties. Its aim is to critique the societal pressure placed on young adults and women.
The central element of the artwork is the game of bowling, where the player’s goal is to knock down all the pins. This game can be interpreted as a symbolic act representing the compulsion to conform to social expectations. The bowling pins symbolize the stereotypes and expectations imposed by society, particularly those directed towards young adults and women. These expectations, such as starting a family, fulfilling the role of a wife, achieving job and financial security, caregiving, and meeting beauty ideals, all create anxiety. The act of knocking down the pins symbolizes the player’s (or observer’s) struggle against these expectations and their attempt to free themselves from them.
