You’re looking at a work of art, made with the nature printing/ mono printing technique. Just like with monoprinting, I use a plate on which I make a representation, and which I print with an etching press.
I printed this work during a research period where I investigated how I could print larger than the etching press is large.
The subject of the print is the proliferation and overgrowth of plants due to the abundance of nitrogen in the soil and air. I printed with blackberry plants and grasses. To make the proliferation visible, I chose to print the stems with purple, instead of their natural color. I also chose a lushly painted backgroud.
