This print is a key work in my graphic research. In this picture I zoomed out and looked at the landscape. While working a picturesque background emerged from an unconscious process. Where I normally apply ink with rollers and stamps, I now used a brush and painted the background on the plate. To create depth I used an inverted repoussoir. The plants on the foreground are light in stead of dark. I’ve been using only two colors etching ink and mixed it in al kind of tones.
Also in this print i’ve been using wild plants that grow together on the roadside and ditch side. These are plants I use very often in my work. Also these plants proliferate.
The theme of this print is the landscape and it’s plants. If we don’t appreciate the landscape and we don’t care about it (litteral), what wil happen? We have to take care of it, for our own health and for a better earth.
