With my series ”Overlays”, I attempt to capture the memories of a place or a day in a single image by collecting photographs and superimposing them. The multitude of visual impressions in the course of a day or a period of time overwhelms us and we often don’t even realize it. We take impressions with us and file them away or remember them sporadically. The composition of the photographs creates patterns and new structures that may appear random, but nevertheless make the peculiarities and character of the motifs recognizable. Thus, on the one hand, memories are collected and at the same time the essence of a place or a day is made clear by summarizing individual moments.
