The beautiful golded Sala degli Specchi at Livorno’s Museo Giovanni Fattori was the setting for the announcement of the winners of the seventh edition of the PREMIO COMBAT PRIZE on Saturday 16th July, as the finalists’ exhibition came to a close.
The jury members - Adriana Polveroni, Antonello Tolve, Cristiana Perrella, Francesca Baboni, Ilaria Bonacossa, Luca Panaro and Stefano Taddei - selected Greta Pllana as winner of the Painting category, for her work “Fiori d’aprile, cani che allattano”, appreciating her ability to create complex, disturbing atmospheres using just a few strokes, a skill which anticipates an interesting future for the artist
Second place, with a special jury mention, was awarded to Iva Lulashi.
The prize in the Photography category was awarded to Lamberto Teotino for his work “Mary Shelley”, for his experimentation, the fineness of the mount, and his grammatical analysis of the language.
A special jury mention went to Jacopo Tomassini.
The winner of the Graphics category was announced as Anna Capolupo for her work “Don’t be afraid of emptiness”. She was selected for her innovative interpretation of a historical language, opening up new prospects for its development.
Second prize, and a special jury mention, was awarded to Sabrina Vivian Bello.
In the Sculpture/Installation category the prize was won by Alessandra Calò for her work “Secret Garden”. She was selected for her ability to construct an effective dialogue between the salvaging of memories of the past and the modernity of the present, evocatively taking us back to diversified languages that move between literature, photography and installation.
A special jury mention was awarded to second prize winner Ernesto Longobardi.
Lastly, in the Video category the prize was awarded to Hilla Ben Ari for her work “Na’amah: A Tribute to Nahum Benari”. She was selected for the maturity she shows in portraying images in which tensions and a quest for equilibrium interlace, recalling current socio-existential contexts.
A special jury mention went to Matteo Girola.
The Special Prizes were awarded as follows: the new “Fattori Contemporaneo” - consisting of a personal exhibition during the 2017 calendar of events at the Museo Fattori – was awarded to Paola Di Bello for her artistic career, her coherent research and investigation into photography and her specific perceptual system, while the Artist in Residence prizes, one in Belgrade (under 35) and one in Florence , were awarded respectively to:
- Sara Ciuffetta, whose work crosses the various languages of art and promises a bright future for the artist.
- Marta Lech for her ability to work surfaces in a rigorous and meticulous way, and for her research focussing on the perception of light and space.
The Popular Jury prize was won by Martina Camani for her work PER GRANDE AMORE - 36 giorni con i tuoi capelli del colore del grano / La cenere di 36 torsi di pannocchia / Per 36 minuti ho guardato il cielo
