The artist employs both analog and digital image processing techniques in order to create his works. The unlimited possibilities and enormous freedom that is provided by this technology allowed Ghyczy to increasingly part with mimetic principles - even though he still acknowledges them - and attains to a different level of veracity within his paintings. The artist perceives his method of fragmenting, distorting and reassembling as a structuralist process, by which a world is formed that is not an identical re-creation of reality, but a novel construction and a means to render reality graspable, a “simulacrum” as termed by Roland Barthes. This highly calculated procedure of dissecting the different layers of reality evolves into painterly gestures that merely suggest, combined with detailed and clearly defined elements; an interweaving and overlapping of different elements, which form an analogy of the current discourse around the experience of the self.
