Based on the Jacob Lawrence’s Migration Series paintings, this project - which still in progress - reflects on the subject of the new migratory waves in Europe. It also thinks on the way we perceive and process the images that assault us everyday, resulting in our collective emotional engagement. The use of the Playmobil toys – so happy and childlike - result as an obvious contradiction, portraying a real problem in a - maybe to much - ”lighter” way.
As a kid I used to love playing with Playmobil, and it was just later that I realized that it can result as a mirror, in a way that it reflects the childs understanding of the ”grown-up world”.
The main objective is, of course, to create some kind of awareness on a real and actual problem we face - that should not be exclusively political.
