PIXELS FOR LIVING (2016)
This composition is based on a series of photos of student houses in container units. The stictly ordered stacks of multicoloured facades on a dark blue background, shot in a frontal two-dimensional way, work on one side as an abstract image. Its colourful variation underlines a playfulness similar to the computer game Tetris. At the same time in detail one can see tiny traces of the real world and its inhabitants (windows, curtains, empty chairs, laundry racks, the grass), which gives the composition a surreal dimension.

BIOGRAPHY
After graduation in 1990 at the Art Academy, Paul Brouns (1967) started exhibiting paintings but also was one of the first artists to employ computer electronics as a tool to create art. Gradually he became more involved with graphic design in the early 2000’s.
Inspired by the new possibilities in digital photography, in recent years he has become increasingly involved with photography. Because of his ongoing infatuation with geometrical patterns, repetition and luscious colours, he is currently involved in a highly original approach of architectural photography that approaches pictorial abstraction. His work is available in certified limited editions and is increasingly successful among art collectors worldwide.
