Mastectomy 1:
Medically term, Mastectomy is the surgical removal of the breast for the treatment or prevention of breast cancer. During the process of this painting, my wife is suffering from this process.
The severity of this painting is evaluated according to a complex system called staging. This takes into account the size of gold color and whether it has spread to the textured canvas, contrast with brown color, and/or distant parts of the painting.
This piece of work is dedicated to all women who has breast cancer all over the world.
Biodata
Joining the self-thought masters of the conservative and modern schools from Mabini is sculptor Arnel Garcia from Angeles City, Pampanga.
Arnel Garcia won the Grand Prize in sculpture category at the art Association of the Philippines 66th Annual Art Competition in 2013.
He was also a finalist in sculpture category and Honorable Mention in mixedmedia category of the at Government Service Insurance System art competition in 2014.
He also have a Special Citation at the 2014 Metrobank Art & Design Excellence.
His works were often exhibited in Pampanga and Metro Manila, but he had aswell exhibition at the Philippine Embassy Berlin in Germany.
Aside from being an artist, Garcia is also an instructor of Kapampangan Studies, College of Business and Accountancy and College of Hospitality Management at the Holy Angel University in Angeles City.
He is currently the president of Kapampangan Manguleampong Gugulis and public relations officer of Katipunan daring Talasaliksik at Talaturang Kapampangan.
Arnel Garcia holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the Holy Angel University in Angeles City.
His studies in Computer Science, as well as in Art, are unfortunately not completed due to the time he spent on numerous research topics and as being a full-time artist, even as a self-taught artist.
Since the summer of 2005, he has been the College Instructor of Kapampangan Studies at the Holy Angel University in Angeles City. He also serves as an Instructor in the College of Business and Accountancy, College of Hospitality Management and of Kapampangan Culture.
Garcia participates in many art competition and achieved many awards and recognitions for his outstanding sculpture and artworks. In AAP Annual Competition and GSIS Art Competition, he often comes out as a finalist. In Metrobank Art Competition, he frequently receives Honorable Mention.
Garcia already held several solo exhibitions.
He continues participating in group exhibitions in Angeles and Metro Manila.
Arnel is with Transwing Art Gallery for many years now already and has participated exhibits in Germany in Berlin and Frankfurt and in Netherlands in Amsterdam personally with Transwing.
