I composed this painting to enlighten the two central figures.
Composition lignes built a space with a limited depth, and the front evacuates a theater stage. The theater environment is very present in my work, I paint the background for exemple, as spaces, walls, similar to a decor, which is also made to enlighten the two figures.
The first character is on his knees, at feet of the second character, who is carrying the first one by his arms. I wanted to evoque a fall. Their faces, hidden or not, are painted together as a very composed detail of the painting.
There is always a tragedy pinch in what I search. The most inspiration for this work is an archive photography, that represent a dying soldier in the embrace of a priest. I am searching, in the image, for the essence, the strangeness, the gesture : the intensity.
For inspiration or what I paint, I am searching for image details, figures, and objects with a esthetics or graphic interest, as the colored balls on the first plan.
