Artwork Introduction
Through on-site creation, the materials recovered from di>erent places in the past are re-collaged and assembled. Through an action-like body assembly process, these materials that are between waste and semi-waste are reconstructed in an unknown state. The artist hopes to refer to a way to explore the dissociation and unpredictability in daily life through the intermediary of the relationship between the body and objects. And by expanding the overlapping state of this perception system, it brings out our philosophical thinking about the relationship between reality and reality in life.
Artist Bio
The artist, Yu-Jung CHEN, now lives and works in Tainan, Taiwan.
Mainly focusing on contemporary composition, experimental improvisation, and mixed media, the majority of Chen’s recent artworks spring from the space, individual emotions and psychological experiences involved in such. Currently, he is concentrating on the interaction of visuals and sounds associated with nature. By processing their transformation, he blurs the boundaries of natural spatial perception. He has also attempted to use AI computing technology to experiment with the interactive and improvised relationship between humans and non-humans and to
explore the dialogue between humans and virtual species.
In recent years, he has conducted resident creations and exhibitions in Taiwan and abroad, including Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, New Zealand, the Netherlands, South Korea, France, Iceland, and Taiwan. In 2022, he was selected for the ZKM Giga-Hertz Production Awards (Germany), the 26th Nanying
Awards - Excellence Awards, and the 10th Next Art Tainan.
