Fetish Object 1 synthesizes two of the most fetishized ideas in the USA: babies and guns. It is the size of the Sig Sauer P320, used by police departments across the USA, that is notorious for firing without any pressure on the trigger. This is one from a series based on (in)famous guns popular in America.
Kevin R. Frech (born Minneapolis, USA, lives New York, USA) is a mixed-media artist and award-winning filmmaker. His work explores the sometimes conflicted and often comedic interactions and impacts between people on their environment, and vice-versa. Recent exhibitions include Arte Laguna, Venice, IT; Parker Gallery, Parker, CO, and the CICA Museum, Inchon, South Korea. He also participated in the Black Hole Residency in Riga, Latvia. Recent live performances include his award-winning work “The Minimum,” in the Art In Odd Places festival, New York, NY. Selected exhibitions include Art Nova 100, Beijing, China; Touchstone Gallery, Washington, D.C. and Storefront Media Gallery, Seattle, WA. Prizes for his work include the YICCA International Contest of Contemporary Art, Rome, Italy and the Chicago International Film Festival. His work has screened in film festivals including the Tribeca International Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival, and the Sao Paolo International Film Festival, and has shown on the Sundance Channel nationally. His work is also included in the permanent collection of the American Folk Art Museum, NY, NY and the Prinzhorn Collection in Heidelberg, Germany. He holds a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and did his graduate studies in filmmaking at Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.
