Sara Stojanović is a communication designer and visual artist based in Serbia. She studied Graphic Design at the Faculty of Arts in Niš and completed her Master’s degree in Communication Design at Politecnico di Milano. Her work has been presented in exhibitions in Serbia and abroad. Photography remains a vital part of her practice, focusing on observing overlooked realities within everyday urban life.
This photograph is part of an ongoing series created through reflections captured while wandering through the city of Niš. The series explores fragments of social absurdity, emotional numbness, and unsettling realities embedded within the post-socialist urban landscape. Taken at the old cemetery of Niš, the image captures the absurd relationship between communist-era residential architecture and the neglected cemetery of some of the city’s most significant historical figures, now slowly falling apart beneath it. Beneath a graffiti reading “Living Like a Boss,” the scene reveals a quiet tension between irony, decay, and everyday life.
