Artwork description - Inspired by personal life. A meditation on love and how many of us misunderstand love as a barter of emotions.
Biography - I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember — a gift from my mother. I started with cartoons and cars, later finding my own surreal style. I’ve always been a doodler at heart. For me it’s the most joyful and spontaneous way to create. After drawing through early college, life pulled me away for nearly 15 years. I only returned before the start of the pandemic & It felt like finding myself again.
My artistic alter ego is Vandalus Aesteticus , which translates to artistic freedom. I call myself a vandal not only out of rebellion, but because art breaks through the numbness of this disconnected world.
Drawing is meditation for me — a connection to God, nature, and the universe. At times I feel like a channel for something larger. My inspirations come mostly from nature, my inner world, and the human condition. I’m self‑taught and driven by curiosity: my main goal is to see where imagination and ability can take me. I don’t draw for a living — I live to draw.
Themes in my work include: love, freedom, nature, unity with God and the universe, presence / living in the moment, innocence, ecology and recycling, fighting discrimination and supporting equal rights
I use markers, pencils, crayons, and even old cosmetics — anything that can leave a mark. Recycling matters to me, so I often use old or discarded materials. Paper remains my favorite surface — raw and honest.
I’m motivated by:
- expressing my inner world and spiritual connection
- bringing joy to others — even one person finding comfort in my work means success to me
- using recycled materials
- believing that art heals, and that everyone is an artist in their own way
If I had to classify my work, I’d call it surreal graphic expressionism.
